Author Profile

Aniruddha Brahmachari is a social sector professional with more than 20 years of experience in Programme management & Monitoring and Evaluation. Mr Brahmachari presently works as the Global Monitoring Evaluation and Learning Officer with the Oxfam International Secretariat. He has earlier worked as Regional Programme Quality Lead for Horn, East & Central Africa region for Oxfam. Previously he worked with LANDESA, UNDP India, Care INDIA. He has also headed the Social Research division in AC Nielsen Nepal and spearheaded a wide range of research projects for AC Nielsen India. He obtained MPhil in Planning & Development from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and Masters in Planning & Development from University of Poona. He also holds Masters in Business Management from Manipal University. He has authored many papers and co-edited a book “Evaluations for Sustainable Development Experiences and Learning”. Samik Ghosh is a practitioner in social work, public health development programmes and social impact research with 13 years of contribution in India and other South Asian countries. He is presently associated with the AzimPremji Philanthropic Initiatives - Impact portfolio in India. Formerly he has worked with International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI-CGIAR), OXFAM India among others. His professional endeavor has significant contribution towards international development processes and implementation including interdisciplinary approach in public health care and nutrition, food innovation and social development for unreached population. He is awarded with the degree Master of Arts in Social Work (major in Community Health and Psychiatric Social Work) from Banaras Hindu University, India. He has published journal articles, monographs, edited volumes of book and book chapters on his credit. In 2015, he has co-authored the book “Evaluations for Sustainable Development: Experiences and Learning”. He enjoys indigenous arts and photography while travelling.

New Directions for Evaluations: Visibility, Voice and Value is collection of writings of Evaluation of development programmes in both governmental and non-governmental settings. It has 13 papers on innovations, ethics and inclusion. The book is a collation of evaluation experience from across the world including fragile contexts. These writings distil the complexity of evaluation in different settings of development into clear, easy to understand learning papers.
