Author Profile

Sanjay Misra started his career as a computer professional first in NIIT where he served for four years and was bestowed with the Award of Excellence. Though he is a biology graduate from Delhi University but is well trained in Computer Applications. Out of curiosity, as an amateur gardener he used to grow horticultural plants and fishes by working on projects of hydroponics and aquaponics continuously at his home. It was in 2011, when he started a commercial hydroponics and aquaponics farm in Allahabad. Dr. Sanyat Misra did his master’s degree in Horticulture from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar, Uttarakhand and doctoral degree from Dr. Yashwant Singh Chauhan University of Horticulture & Forestry, Nauni, Solan (H.P.), and now he is serving as an Assistant Professor cum Junior Scientist for the last 12 years in the Department of Horticulture, Birsa Agricultural University, Kanke, Ranchi (Jharkhand). To his credit, he has more than five books of international repute, apart from many scientific papers and technical articles in floriculture. Dr. R.L. Misra served Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi for 40 years in various capacities, serving temperate regions of Shimla and Kullu for more than 16 years and New Delhi for about 24 years, exclusively on horticultural crops. He had been Officer-in-Charge, Indo-Israel Project on R&D Farms, IARI, New Delhi. He retired as Principal Scientist cum Project Coordinator, All India Coordinated Research Project on Floriculture (ICAR), stationed at IARI, New Delhi. To his credit, he has more than one dozen books and more than 500 publications including research papers, review articles, book chapters, bulletins, symposium papers and technical articles. Still he is continuing as Adjunct Faculty in Floriculture at IARI, New Delhi.

About The Book

The present book provides detailed information on hydroponics techniques, its nutrient solution requirements, disorders of plants (nutrient deficiency symptoms, diseases and other insect-pests), media, root and air environmental requirements, aquaculture & aquaponics systems and their requirements along with the concepts of controlled environment of agriculture techniques such as greenhouses and growrooms. Through environmentally-controlled greenhouses, we can grow anything, anywhere and in any season for fresh supply of eatables, especially vegetables and fruits, vis-à-vis cut flowers in the market to generate good dividend. This book is intended to give enough grounding to the readers, so that they can grow vegetables, other food and ornamental crops, along with fishes and other aquatic animals in a small space in their houses and to help them start commercial production of many crops in a small area. The book is for anyone who wants to learn about Soilless Crop Production.
