Akoijam Thoibisana is Assistant Professor at the Department of Philosophy, Gauhati Univerity, Guwahati, Assam. She graduated from University of Delhi, (Miranda House) in Philosophy (Hons.) and completed her Master in Philosophy from North Eastern Hill University, Shillong. She was awarded Ph.D in Philosophy from the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati and has also been associated with Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay as a Research Assistant before joining the Gauhati University. Akoijam is also the author of the book “The Problem of the Embodied Person: A Phenomenological Study” (2012). She is currently working on Derrida’s of Grammatology.

About The Book

The book attempts to present a new perspective on starting with the philosophy of Edmund Husserl, the founder of phenomenology. It addresses nine core concepts in Husserl’s thought, namely phenomenology, intentionality, noema, epoché, temporality, life world, transcendental ego, body and intersubjectivity. Each chapter is an exposition of these concepts. The book attempts to capture how Husserl sought to developed each of the core concepts taking into account his major works like Logical Investigation, Ideas, Cartesian Meditation and The Crisis of European Science and Transcendental Ego.
