Dr. P. Ranchana is working as a Post Doctoral Fellow in Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. She has published 6 international, 5 national and 30 popular articles, 6 manuals and 5 book chapters. She served as a course associate for UG and PG courses with respect to Floriculture and Landscaping. She is a life member of several professional societies. She handled classes for ODL students towards Floriculture and Landscaping aspects. She assisted in the conduct of 25 days training programmes for women entrepreneurs at the Department of Floriculture and Landscaping, TNAU, Coimbatore. Dr. M. Kannan is presently working as the Professor and Head, Department of Floriculture and Landscaping, Horticultural College and Research Institute, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. He started his carrier in 1986 as Assistant Professor (Hort.) at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Yercaud. To his credit he has published more than 9 books, several technical bulletins, student manuals and book chapters related to horticulture and specifically to floriculture. He is the recipient of 10 awards and is a member of various professional and academic societies.

Moreover, it act as a quick reference to know about the palms suitable for different regions (tropical, sub tropical, temperate), dry, wet soils and coastal regions, as house plants, in landscaping as hedges and screens. This book is bestowed with the description of 100 palms with coloured photographs which are widely used in different parts of the world as ornamental, medicinal plant and also for culinary purposes. The contents of the book is divided into two sections viz., 1) introduction and description of palms 2) Colour photographs of palms for identification. This book will be highly helpful as a basic guide to know about palms for the students, budding landscapists and landscaping consultants.
