Author Profile
Dr. J.D.S. Panwar obtained his Ph.D. from Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi in Plant Physiology with (i) Agronomy, (ii) Horticulture as minor subjects. Joined IARI, Plant Physiology in 1971 and served the Institute in various capacities as Scientist, Senior Scientist, Principal Scientist and as Head, Division of Crop Physiology, Biochemistry and Microbiology at Indian Institute of Pulses Research (IIPR), Kanpur for a period 5 years (2001-2006). Retired as Head, Division of Plant Physiology, Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi. After completing his tenure as Vice Chancellor, Mahatama Gandhi University, Meghalaya, he is leading the university of Venkateshwara Open University, Arunachal Pradesh as Vice Chancellor w.e.f. April, 2015. Dr. Panwar has published more than hundred research articles, 4 Books and participated in 14 International conferences.
Dr. Amit Kumar Jain did Master’s in Botany in 1999 and Ph.D (Botany) in 2005 from CCS University, Meerut (UP). He has qualified ICAR-NET in Plant Physiology and Biochemistry. He has also acquired the degree of B.Ed, MA(Edu.), PG Diploma in Nano Biotechnology (PGDNBT) and Distance Education (PGDDE). He is a member of many academic/research societies/committees and Fellow of Linnean Society of London (U.K.) and Fellow of Botanical Society (India). For his outstanding contribution in Botany especially in Plant Physiology, he has been awarded Young Scientist Award 2014 at Kolkata, West Bengal. He obtained D.Sc Degree (Botany) in 2015 from CCS University, Meerut. Dr. Jain joined IGNOU as Assistant Regional Director (ARD) and presently working at IGNOU Regional Centre Karnal, Haryana. Earlier, he has worked as an Assistant Professor in Microbiology, J.V. College, Baraut (UP). Dr. Jain has 3 Books, 34 Research Articles and 8 Book chapters to his credit.
Dr. Brijesh Kumar Rathi obtained Master’s Degree (Botany) in 1999 and Ph.D (Botany) in 2006 from CCS University, Meerut. At present, Dr. Rathi is working as Assistant Professor in Botany and NSS Programme Officer at Govt. Girls Degree College, Pilibhit, UP. He is also appointed as a NSS SVEEP Coordinator for Pilibhit district by the Govt. of Uttar Pradesh. He has also participated in various training orientation programme related with National Service Scheme. He has qualified CSIR- NET in Life Sciences. He has published more than 10 Research Articles in Journals of national repute and he is the member of many academic/research societies and Fellow of Linnean Society of London (U.K.).
About The Book
This book has five units covering the area of basic concepts and structure of NSS, youth profiles, programmes and challenges, volunteerism and shramdaan. It will leave sufficient scope to the students to understand themselves in relation to their community, identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem-solving, practice national integration and social harmony and acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes.
This book covers the course content as prescribed by the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines for the first semester under graduate programme.
