Mogalekar is Ph.D. Research Scholar working on fish diversity and productivity of selected reservoirs of south Tamil Nadu in Department of Fisheries Biology and Resource Management, Fisheries College and Research Institute, Tamil Nadu Fisheries University, Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, India. He received B.F.Sc. from College of Fishery Science, Maharashtra Animal and Fisheries Science University, Nagpur. Maharashtra and M.F.Sc. from Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies, Panangad, Kochi, Kerala, India. He has published 13 research and review papers in the field of freshwater and estuarine fish diversity.
J. Canciyal (M.F.Sc.) is Ph.D. Research Scholar in Department of Fisheries Resource Management, Faculty of Fishery Sciences, West Bengal University of Animal and Fisheries Sciences, Kolkata, India. She has been selected as scientist by Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board under Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, India. She has published eight papers and three course manuals. Her field of specialization are freshwater fish diversity and seaweed taxonomy.
Dr. P. Jawahar (M.F.Sc., Ph.D.) is working as Professor in the Department of Fisheries Biology and Resource Management, Fisheries College and Research Institute, Tamil Nadu Fisheries University, Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, India. He handles courses like Taxonomy of Fishes, Shellfish Taxonomy, Fish population dynamics and stock assessment, Marine Fisheries Resource Management, Modern Techniques in Ichthyo-taxonomy, Tropical fish stock assessment and Application of Fisheries Models in Stock Assessment for under graduate and postgraduate students. He has published 73 research papers, 5 teaching manuals and 13 training manuals.

The publication “Inland Fish Diversity” reflects restructured information on freshwater fish diversity of Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and United Andhra Pradesh along with estuarine fish diversity of Tamil Nadu and Vembanad Lake of Kerala with a note on systematic placement as per the latest taxonomic revisions of fish species, together with their environment, endemic or exotic status, maximum size, human use (existence or nonexistence of fishery, aquaculture, ornamental or game fish) and conservation status as per IUCN criteria. It is anticipated that this publication will deliver basic information on the inland fish diversity of south India and offer better inputs for scientific management and utilization of the resources on sustainable manner.
