Dr. Syamali Chakrabarti, Principal Scientist (Genetics), is working in ICAR-NRC for Orchids, Pakyong, Sikkim for last 17 years. She has research experience of 30 years and published 40 research papers and articles, 02 book chapters and one book.
Dr. D.R. Singh is presently working as Director of ICAR-NRC for Orchids, Pakyong, Sikkim and has research experience of 23 years. He has published 130 research papers in national and international journals of repute besides 06 books and 40 book chapters. He has also developed 17 varieties of different horticultural crops. He is the recipient of ten awards at international, national and state levels.
Dr. Tolety Janakiram is presently serving as Assistant Director General (Hort. Sci) ICAR, New Delhi and has outstanding contribution in horticulture research. He developed 42 varieties/hybrids in different floriculture crops. Dr. Janakiram has authored 12 books, 15 bulletins and published 80 research papers in national and international journals. He is the recipient of many awards and fellowships including PNASF Gold Medal award 2008.
About The Book
This book introduces the indigenous knowledge (IK) as a significant resource in orchid which could contribute to increased efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability of the development process. On the basis of the various reports, literature, the different ways of utilization of different wild species of orchids in the livelihood of indigenous people in different countries of the world are described elaborately in six chapters including references and photographs in this book.
