Dr. M. Kannan is presently working as the Professor and Head, Department of Floriculture and Landscaping, Horticultural College and Research Institute, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. He started his carrier in 1986 as Assistant Professor (Hort.) at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Yercaud. To his credit he has published more than 9 books, several technical bulletins, student manuals and book chapters related to horticulture and specifically to floriculture. He is the recipient of 10 awards and is a member of various professional and academic societies. Dr. P. Ranchana is working as a Post Doctoral Fellow in Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. She has published 6 international, 5 national and 30 popular articles, 6 manuals and 5 book chapters. She served as a course associate for UG and PG courses with respect to Floriculture and Landscaping. Dr. S. Vinodh is working as a Post Doctoral Fellow in Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. He has published 5 international, 4 national and 15 popular articles, 2 books and 8 book chapters. He received 5 awards including INSPIRE – Fellowship for his Doctoral Research programme from DST, New Delhi.

The cultivation of house plants is by no means a difficult proposition. It is easy to achieve success, if one has the right knowledge about their habit and habitat, needs and susceptibilities, cultural practices and propagation techniques, the pests and diseases likely to cause damage, and their prevention and control. These information have been presented well in different chapters of this book. In growing plants indoor, the people face some starting problems. Keeping this in view, some practical suggestions have been included for growing indoor plants successfully. Though numerous indoor plant species are available, it has been mentioned only those species that are most common and easily available from nursery outlets.
