Author Profile

Dr. A.T. Francis, presently working as University Librarian, Kerala Agricultural University (KAU), Thrissur has been in the library/teaching profession for more than 30 years. Before joining in KAU, he has worked in NPOL, DRDO, Govt. of India, Kochi for six years; JN College, Lakshadweep and Govt. Medical College, Thrissur for few months each. After obtaining M Com (Financial Management), MLISc and NET/UGC, he did his PhD in the Dept. of Computer Applications, Cochin University of Science andTechnology. He has also done several Diploma/Certificate level courses in Computer Applications, Network Administration, Library Automation, Digital Library Software etc. from DRDO, Kochi, DRTC/ISI, Bangalore, NIC and VSSC/ISRO, Trivandrum, Inflibnet Centre/UGC, Ahmedabad, National Academy of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, IIM, Kozhikode, etc. He taught Research Methodology and Library and Information Science, Management and ICTs for BSc (Hons), MSc/MVSc in Agriculture, Forestry, Co-operation, Banking and Management, MTech/PhD (Agrl. Engg.), MVSc and MBA courses of KAU and also the subjects for BLISc and MLISc courses. He is a Project Guide for MBA and MLISc courses and PhD Research Guide in 02 universities. Six students completed PhD research work under him and 02 students are doing. Presently he is also serving as a Member of the Academic Council, KAU. Susan Mathew, Deputy Librarian, is currently working as Head, Technical Section, University Library, Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT). She has been in the library profession for more than 25 years. Before joining CUSAT, she has worked in CIFNET Cochin (Govt. of India) and University of Calicut. After doing her Post graduation in Library Science and Diploma course in Library Automation, she completed PhD in Library and Information Science, from the Faculty of Technology, CUSAT. She has authored several research and conference papers. She has membership in several library associations at the national and international level. She is also presently a member of Board of Studies at the School of Library and Information Science, Rajagiri College of Social Sciences Kalamassery. Her areas of research interests include Applications of ICT in library services, LIS education, E-learning, Bibliometric studies, Digital Humanities etc.

About The Book

The articles included in this book entitled “Digital Library: Development and Services” are selected by peer review from the papers presented in the National Seminar on Technology Management in Libraries organized by the Kerala Agricultural University’s (KAU) College of Horticulture in the KAU Main Campus, Thrissur, in collaboration with the Academic Library Association (ALA) and Kerala Library Association (KLA) during 29-30 August 2014. The seminar was sponsored by the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE). Contributors of the articles included in this volume are mostly from universities, colleges, research institutions and other academic institutions with sufficient knowledge on library management, technology adoption for library administration and services, etc. We are very hopeful that this book will be useful for library professionals, information users, students and teachers.
