Author Profile
Dr. Pallem Chowdappa received M.Sc. in 1980 from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupathi, Ph.D in 1985 from Mangalore University, Mangalore, Karnataka. He became Director, ICAR-Central Plantation Crops Research Institute, Kasaragod in September, 2014. Dr. Chowdappa is specialized in molecular plant pathology. He attended international training program on 'Oomycetes bioinformatics' at Virginia Tech, USA in 2014. Dr. Chowdappa was awarded DFID fellowship for Post-Doctoral research at CABI Bioscience, UK in 1998. Dr. Chowdappa has published more than 120 research papers in leading national and international journals, 12 books, 35 technical bulletins, 42 book chapters and 5 experimental manuals.
Dr. V. Niral has completed her masters in Genetics and Ph.D from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi. She has more than 20 years of research experience on coconut genetic resources and breeding and is presently Principal Scientist (Genetics) in the Division of Crop Improvement and Nodal Officer of the gene bank at ICAR-CPCRI. She has published about 175 technical articles, including about 35 peer reviewed research papers and has contributed towards development of trait specific genetic stocks, release of 13 improved varieties.
Dr. B.A. Jerard has completed his doctoral degree from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. He has about 19 years of experience on coconut genetic resources management & breeding and has contributed in release of 20 coconut varieties. He has over 200 publications in his credit including 35 research papers and 2 books.
Dr. K. Samsudeen, has received his M.Sc. (Bot.) from Kerala University, Thiruvanathapuram and Ph.D (Bot.) from University of Calicut. He joined ICAR-IISR in 1986. Presently, he is a Principal Scientist (Economic Botany and Plant Genetic Resources) in the Division of Crop Improvement, ICAR-CPCRI. He has published more than 75 research papers in peer reviewed journals, edited four books and contributed eight book chapters.
