Dr. Rameshwar Dass Gupta did his Ph. D Agriculture (Soil Science and Water Management) in 1980 from Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, Palampur, India. He started his professional career as an Assistant Extension Specialist (Soil Science) in Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, in 1968 and has served in various capacities as Assistant Scientist, Associate Professor, Deputy Director Extension Education (Training) and Chief Scientist, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, SKUAST-Jammu. He has served as Chief Scientist and Head, Regional Agricultural Research Station, SKUAST-Jammu, and Division of Agricultural Chemistry and Soil Sciences and Agroforestry. He has over 150 peered publications.
Prof. Sushil Kumar Gupta has 22 years experience of teaching, research and extension in the discipline of agroforestry. He obtained his doctorate in Forestry with specialization in Silviculture from Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Solan (HP). Presently he is working as Professor, Division of Agroforestry, at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (J&K). He has authored one book, 12 book chapters and more than 30 research publications in referred national and international journals of repute.
Dr. S.D. Bhardwaj has the 35 years of teaching, research and extension experience in the discipline of forestry. During his professional carrier he served on important positions like Dean, College of Forestry, Director Research, and Head, Department of Silviculture and Agroforestry at Dr Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Solan. He obtained his Doctorate Degree in Agronomy with specialization in Medicinal and Aromatic Plants from HPKVV, Palampur (HP). He also obtained Post Graduate Diploma in Forestry from Utah, USA. He has authored 05 books, over 150 peered research publications.

Each plant species has been described with their common name, scientific name, family, importance, distribution, medicinal uses, botanical description, soil and climatic requirements and cultural practices. The terminology referred/used in the text has also been explained in the chapter glossary in the end.
