About The Book

Biodiversity however, is not a concept but an umbrella term; the content of which is quite diverse as can be inferred by definitions provided in many different texts. The distinction between diversity and biodiversity is also fairly unclear in many studies in biology. Sustainable management of our ecosystems and the rich life within them remains one of the key natural resource management challenges. Conservation of wildlife requires an understanding of ecology, the science devoted to study of the interactions among organisms and their environment. Ecology is defined as “the study of the abundance and distribution of organisms”. Understanding why animals thrive where they do requires an intimate knowledge of both the organisms and they environment in which they live, including other organisms. It will be useful as a reference book for all students studying environmental science as a compulsory subject at different levels and also as a handy book for the lay man. This book will be of greater use for the students, teachers and researchers of botany, agriculture, plant science, fisheries and other related discipline.
