Author Profile

Ramasamy Santhanam, PhD, is the former Dean of the Fisheries College and Research Institute (FC and RI), Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University, Thoothukudi, India. He has about 50 years of teaching and research experience in marine/fisheries sciences. He has served as a fisheries expert for various government and non-government organizations in India. Dr Santhanam has the credit of being authored books with internationally reputed publishers like Springer Verlag, CRC, Academic Press, Apple Academic Press, Nova Science and Bentham Books and he has so far published 35 books on various aspects of marine life, fisheries environment, fisheries biology, and aquaculture. His two titles have been identified by the World Book Authority as “Best Marine Biology Books of All time “. He was a member of the American Fisheries Society, United States; World Aquaculture Society, United States; Global Fisheries Ecosystem Management Network (GFEMN), United States; and the IUCN’s Commission on Ecosystem Management, Switzerland.
