Author Profile
Prof. T. Pullaiah, is a former Professor at the Department of Botany at Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh, India, where he has taught for more than 35 years. He has authored 73 books, edited 42 books,and published over 330 research papers. Professor Pullaiah received his PhD from Andhra University, India, attended Moscow State University, Russia, and worked as Post-Doctoral Fellow during 1976-1978.
Dr. B. Sadasivaiah, obtained his M.Sc.and Ph.D. (2009) in Botany from Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Ananthapuramu, Andhra Pradesh. Later he worked as Research Associate in the same University during 2010-2011. He was selected as Assistant Professor of Botany by APPSC and was appointed at Government Degree College (Men), Wanaparthy, Mahabubnagar District in 2011. He published 1 book and 60 research articles, including 6 new species. He bagged 'K.S. Manilal Award' of the Indian Association for Angiosperm Taxonomy in 2008, 'Young Scientist Award' from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati in 2014, 'Best Conserver Award' (2019) from Government of Andhra Pradesh, 'Best Teacher' and 'Best Conserver Award' from Government of Telangana in 2020 and 2023 respectively. Presently he is working at Department of Botany, Dr. B.R.R. Government Degree College, Jadcherla, Mahabubnagar District, Telangana State where he established Telangana Botanical Garden, Telangana State Herbarium (TBGH) and Biodiversity Research & Education Center. He completed more than 7 major and minor Research Projects from various funding agencies.
About The Book
The Telangana state has been intensively explored by the first author and his scholars for plant wealth during the last 40 years and the second author for the last 12 years. All the herbaria in India have been consulted for the specimens of Telangana. The first volume includes Introduction, Topography and General features, Forests and Vegetation, Past and Present work, Key to the families and systematic enumeration of families Ranunculaceae to Alangiaceae. The second volume includesfamilies Rubiaceae to Ceratophyllaceae and Third volume Monocotyledons. Bentham and Hooker's system of classification has been followed in the enumeration of families with certain exceptions to accommodate recent changes. A dichotomous indented key is given for families, genera and species. A total of 2268 taxa belonging to 2222 species, under 898 genera and 155 families have been enumerated.
