Author Profile

Dr. Ch. Sekholal Kom, currently work as Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science, Moreh College, Manipur. He has published numerous research articles in edited books and reputed journals most of which are pertaining to Northeast politics in general and ethnic issues in particular. His research interests include autonomy demands of ethnic groups; minority issues and India's Northeast politics. Life-member of Indian Political Science Association (IPSA). Dr. Haans J Freddy is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science, Madras Christian College. He was a Research Fellow in the Indian Council of Social Science Research, New Delhi. Dr. Freddy received his Ph.D in Political Science from North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong. He teaches international politics and has published books and research articles in many journals.

About The Book

The book examines conflicts in South Asia in general. The ethnic conflict in Sri Lanka had captured the attention of the world for almost four decades which emerged following the independence of Sri Lanka. This book engages the reader with theories of conflict which is essential to understand the nuances of the ethnic conflict in different countries in the region and in particular the ethnic conflict in Sri Lanka. How conflicts can turn itself into violent secessionist movements is examined with the particular case of Sri Lanka which provides useful lessons for countries in other regions of the world. The book provides to the reader a historical account of the ethnic conflict and ends with the fall of the LTTE.
