Author Profile

Dr. C. Abdul Razak is former University Librarian of KAU and a veteran library professional having more than 35 years of experience in teaching/library service with specialization in Reference Service and Personalised Information service. He has served as post graduate teacher in KAU PhD Department in Research Methodology and Library and Information Retrieval for more than 20 years. He has organised several programmes of high social relevance and served as resource person in several seminars and workshops. He has also published a number of articles on library management. With his advice and motivation, hundreds of students chose library science as their profession and succeeded in it. Dr. K.R. Ajithan is a writer, researcher and translator, focussing on economy, sociology, ecology and literature. He is keen to publish articles on environmentsl issues, contemporary science and innovative technologies with regard to their social application. He served as College Librarian (UGC) with Kerala State Higher Education Department until his retirement from Govt. Victoria College, Palakkad. He is, currently, the General Secretary of Academic Library Association. Dr. V.S. Kunjumuhammed has been in library profession for about 30 years and presently serving as the Librarian of Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies, Ernakulam. At present, he is the General Secretary of Kerala Library Association (KLA) Ernakulam region. He has organized various workshops, seminars, and training programs for teachers as well as library professionals and published 11 various articles and book chapters. He is the Postgraduate faculty on Research Methodology/Library and Information Service for MSc and PhD Courses. He is also the Associate NCC Officer of the University.

About The Book

The present compendium "Professionalism in Library Management" narrates steps from choice of books/journals, cataloguing, placement, retrieval, service and reentry. Internet and digitization have added more width and depth to the services of library. Plagiarism is assuming alarming proportion and needs to be minimized and even eliminated. The e-books/e-journals/e-proceedings saving space, time and resources are now replacing conventional library services. The Central Library of Kerala Agricultural University, Vellanikkara, Thrissur is transformed into a model library undertaking steps to meet the academic requirements of readers-students, scientists, teachers and visitors. "Cleanliness is Godliness", said Gandhiji and it is fully visible at the KAU Central Library.
