Dr. Banarsi Lal is working as an Incharge, Sr. Scientist-cum-Head at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu, India. He did his Masters in Extension Education from RAU, Bikaner and Doctorate from Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi. He has done extensive work on "Development of communication model on farm education programmes of television in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir" from 2002-2007 during his Ph.D. period. Dr. Banarsi has won gold medal in M.Sc. and topped in qualifying exam for Ph.D. programme conducted by Institute of Agricultural Sciences, BHU, Varanasi. He has completed his M.Sc. through ICAR exam. From the last thirteen years he has been working in KVK, Reasi with full dedication for the farmers' community and has wide experience in extension. He adopted an organic village Talwara and did extensive work in organic farming. He is upgrading the knowledge of farmers on organic farming so as to produce the safe and healthy food. So far he has published more than 25 high value research papers, 5 books, more than 500 popular articles, 50 technical bulletins and seventeen success stories/case study/ training manual. He is working as PI and CO-PI of more than 5 research/extension projects undergoing in the district. He is recipient of more than 40 zonal, national and international awards. Presently he is an active member of many Professional Societies.
Dr. Pawan Kumar Sharma is working as Scientist, Agricultural Economics in the Directorate of Extension at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu. After completing graduation from Rajasthan and Masters from Agra, he acquired his PhD. degree in Agricultural economics from SKUAST-Jammu. Besides, having Post Graduate Diploma in Agribusiness Management, he has completed certificate courses in ‘Agreement on Agriculture’ and ‘Sanitary and Phytosanitary measures’ from World Trade Organization. He has more than 13 years of experience in agricultural research, teaching and extension. He has to his credit more than six books, thirty research papers and twenty five book chapters. He remains associated with more than five national and international research projects in the capacity of Principal Investigator and Co-PI.
Dr. Amit Singh Charak at present Incharge Sr. Scientist & Head KVK-Doda of SKUAST-Jammu, acquired B.Sc. (Ag.) Hons. from M.D.S. University, Ajmer, Rajasthan. He did his Master’s as well as PhD degree in Agronomy from MPUAT-Udaipur, Rajasthan. He has published more than 40 reputed research papers and more than 100 popular articles in national & International journals and Magazines of well repute. He has received fellowship of reputed society and number of reputed National as well as International level awards/recognitions. At present, he is member of about 8 National/International level professional societies.
About The Book
The book provides wider coverage of different aspects such as potential of organic farming, horticulture, floriculture, sericulture, commercial poultry farming, bamboo cultivation, beekeeping, women empowerment and Self Help Groups (SHGs), mushroom cultivation etc. in J&K. There has been a long felt need for a book exclusively on “Crop Diversification in J&K”. Endeavour has been made by the authors to collect information on various aspects of diversified agriculture in J&K. The thrust of the book is on crops diversification in J&K. This book provides a comprehensive reading material for researchers, students, planners and extension field functionaries. It will also assist them in providing knowledge on diversified farming to the farmers. This book can also help the research scholars to further enrich the subject of agriculture.
