Prof( Dr.) S. Kannaiyan, Chairman, National Biodiversity Authority, Chennai is Doctorate in Agricultural Microbiology. He was a post Doctoral Fellow in the University of London, UK and also at Charles Kattering Research Institute, USA. After serving as a visiting scientist in the University of California, Davis, California, USA, he shifted his focus of research work to Azolla biofertilizers. <BR> Dr. A. Gopalam, Principal Scientist in Educational Psychology at National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad is Ph.D in Biochemistry and was awarded later an advance Diploma in Self Instructional Systems from Syracuse University, N.Y.

Application of biotechnology in conservation and utilization of plant biodiversity has been aptly portrayed.
Volume II deals with soil resources and microbial diversity which include soil biodiversity and sustainability parameters, rehabilitation options of salt, lands, land resource planning, nutrient management, conservation technologies, management of biodiversity of microbes and weeds, biodiversity of Rhizobium and microflora and other related topics.
Volume III deals with retrospect and prospects of taxonomy of insects and predators, dimensions of biodiversity in insect and pest in crop ecosystems, plantations and forests besides other similar articles of varied interest.
