Dr. R. Santhanam, Formerly Dean, Fisheries College, Tamil Nadu Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Tuticorin obtained his M.Sc. (with First Class) and Ph.D. from Annamalai University in the years 1971 and 1976 respectively. He possesses about 40 years of teaching and research experience. He has served as the Principal Investigator for various schemes sponsored by the University Grants Commission, Indian Council of Agricultural Research and Tamil Nadu Government (Plan Scheme). Dr. Santhanam is a prolific writer and has so far published about 150 extension articles, 100 research papers and 6 books on various aspects of Aquaculture and Fisheries Environment.

About The Book

It is felt new techniques have to be developed for the production of fish through aquaculture and capture fisheries besides creating an awareness among the public about fisheries science. <BR> Although several books on the individual aspects of Fisheries Science are available from abroad, a comprehensive compendium incorporating modern techniques relating to Indian conditions in lacking. In order to fill up this long felt gap this publication is being brought out. <BR> The present publication, a compilation of mainly published articles in leading English Dailies and Magazines has three parts. The first part deals with important culture practices relating to freshwater and brackishwater system.
