Dr. Latika Bhatia is an Assistant Professor in Department of Microbiology and Bioinformatics in Atal Bihari Vajpayee Vishwavidyalaya, Bilaspur, CG, India. She has 20 years of teaching experience working in University. She did her Ph.D. from ITM University, Gwalior, on Biofuels. She is a recipient of IASc-INSA-NASI Summer Research Fellowship. She has awards and honours in her credit. She has been invited to deliver a technical talk in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS, New Delhi) and in many national and international conferences. She has published more than 30 research articles in peer-reviewed journals of an international repute, 05 book chapters and 03 monographs, 02 books, with citation index more than 200. Recently, Dr. Bhatia has organized Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) sponsored workshop on Medical Lab Technology: Recent Advances in Lab Diagnostics. She has successfully completed many consultancy and research projects. Dr. Bhatia is reviewer of PLOS, Sugar Tech (Springers), Springer Nature, Chemical Engineering & Technology (Wiley, Germany) and member of national advisory committee of eminent universities. Dr. Bhatia has developed online certificate course on immunology, in collaboration with Commonwealth Educational Media Center for Asia (CEMCA), available on Web-portal-“e-atalgyansangum”, on UGC's specified 4 quadrant approaches.

The present book on Immunology is first in series written to cater the beginners in microbiology. The present book is designed to cater the needs of B.Sc. and M.Sc. students of Microbiology, Biotechnology and Pharmacy. The basic concepts of Immunology such as antigen, antibody, serological reactions, hypersensitivity are discussed concisely for better understanding of the students and form a source material to the teachers.
