Dr A Gopalakannan is presently working as Assistant Professor in Department of Aquatic Animal Health, Management, Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Fisheries College and Research Institute, Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University, Ponneri. He has been worked as Intern Scientist in West Sea Mariculture Research Center, National Fisheries Research and Development Institute, South Korea for the period of two years. Later he was working as Assistant Professor in Department of Genetic Engineering, School of Bioengineering, SRM University. He has published 15 research papers in national and international journal and also presented more than 20 papers in the national and international conference. Dr A Uma is working as Professor and Head , Department of Aquatic Animal Health, Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Fisheries College and Research Institute, Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University, Ponneri. Published about 49 research papers in national and international journals; full length papers in conferences; presented many research papers in national and international conferences and co-authored a book. She has trained shrimp hatchery and farm technicians on disease diagnosis and management techniques. Dr S Felix, Ph.D., Vice Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University, Nagapattinam is having experience of more than 35 years in the area of fisheries and aquaculture in teaching, research, extension and administration. He has organized more than 20 Nos. of seminar/conference/symposium at National and International levels. Currently he is also the President (2018-19) of World Aquaculture Society, Asian Pacific Chapter and Chairman, ICAR's BSMA Committee (2018-19).

About The Book

Fish Diseases and Management focuses on the important diseases of commercially important cultivable finfish and shellfishes, their diagnosis and control measures. This book deals with the general information and significance of diseases in relation to aquaculture, host pathogen interaction, diseases development in fish and shellfish, stress and disease occurrence due to the water quality parameters. It also explains about the bacterial, viral, fungal and parasitic pathogens and their relative significance to aquaculture. This book has separate sections dedicated on strategies for health management which deals with immune system of fish and shrimp, different types of vaccines and routes of application. Eco – friendly control measures like the use of diffrent types of immunostimulants and probiotics used in aquaculture are also discussed.
