About The Book
The present book reveals the presence of important medicinal plants with their traditional and genomic based importance in Uttarakhand. The medicinal plants are placed in the alphabetical order for ease to the reader. The numerous snaps will make the visual identification much easier. The purpose of the book is to broadly indicate the traditional and genomic information including botanical name, common name, taxonomy, genomic taxonomical ID, habit, habitat, location in Uttarakhand, part use, medicinal use, number of nucleotides, proteins and ESTs (available on NCBI), chemical information (available on PubChem), and scientific literatures (available on PubMed).
It is hoped that book will be helpful to stimulate the genomic research on medicinal plants, prevent the patent on medicinal plants, invent/develop novel herbal drugs and sustainable use of future planning of medicinal plants of “Herbal state” (Uttarakhand) of India. All the three volumes of this book will be of immense use to researchers, academicians, budding scientists, ethnobotanists, conservationists, resource managers and nature enthusiasts.
