Author Profile
Dr. G. Meerabai, M.Sc., Ph.D. was born in Kurnool district and studied there up to 10th class. Completed her Intermediate and Degree in Sri Satya Sai Institutes, Anantapur. She was completed her M.Sc. in Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati in 1982. Obtained Ph.D. from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam in 1988. She has got 14 years of teaching experience in U.G. section. At present working as Assistant Professor (OC) in Rayalaseema University, Kurnool from 2006 till today. Published 25 papers in various national and international journals. Presented papers in 15 national and international conferences and seminars. Acted as temporary reviewer to Canadian journal.
Prof. T. Pullaiah obtained his M.Sc. (1973) and Ph.D. (1976) degrees in Botany from Andhra University. He was a Post Doctoral Fellow at Moscow State University, Russia during 1976-78. Professor Pullaiah joined Sri Krishnadevaraya University as Lecturer in 1979 and became Professor in 1993. He held several positions in the University, which include Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences, Head of the Department of Botany, Chairman, BOS in Botany, Head of the Department of Sericulture, Co-ordinator and Chairman, BOS in Biotechnology, Vice Principal and Principal, S.K.University College. He retired from active service on 31st May 2011. He was selected by UGC as UGC-BSR Faculty Fellow and is working in Sri Krishnadevaraya University.
About The Book
This is a textbook on Biodiversity, Conservation and Management for the undergraduate and post-graduate students in Botany. It covers syllabus of most of the Indian Universities on the above subject. It is written in simple and lucid manner. The book running to 122 pages covers Nature, Values and Distribution of Biodiversity, Conservation of Biodiversity, Global and National Biodiversity Conservation Initiatives and Remote Sensing and Plant Resource Management. The book is profusely illustrated. Several relevant examples are provided wherever necessary.
