Dr. C. Satapathy served Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology with different capacities and retired as Professor and Dean of Extension. Presently he is working as Director of Amity, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. To his credit, he has guided many Ph.D. scholars, published sixteen books and many research papers in national and international journals. He was awarded Gold Medal in M.Sc. (Ag.), Extension level and obtained Ph.D. degree from IARI, New Delhi in 1981 <BR> Dr. Sabita Mishra is presently working as Senior Scientist (Agriculture Extension) at the Directorate of Research on Women in Agriculture, ICAR, Bhubaneswar. She obtained her Ph.D. Degree from Utkal University in 1991. To her credit, she worked in the field of rural extension besides publishing eight important books, many research papers in national and international journals. She has been actively involved in research for Women in Agriculture, organizing capacity building programmes for Agricultural Scientists and field programmes over last nineteen years. She was awarded by His Excellency, Governor of Odisha for her immense contribution in the field of empowerment of rural women.

About The Book

The book, “Measurement of Gender Empowerment Equity and Development” was planned since I was offering courses at Ph.D. level. The book contains chapters like status of women, measurement of empowerment, equity and development, traits of women leadership, capacity building, adoption behaviour, communication behaviour and managerial ability which are core issues to ascertain the level of empowerment for which the entire nation is interested. The book will serve the interests of researchers, students, field level workers etc. those who are working in the fields of women empowerment. <BR> Further, in measuring the qualitative aspect of empowerment the operational definition of the concepts used in this book will be of immense value to the research scholars.
