Author Profile

Dr. A.B. Sharangi is an Associate Professor of eminence in the discipline of Horticultural Sciences and has been in the profession of teaching, research and extension in the Department of Spices and Plantation Crops, Faculty of Horticulture, Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Mohanpur, Nadia, (West Bengal) for about sixteen years. He is associated with the process of coconut improvement leading to the release of a variety Kalpamitra from CPCRI. He has published about 45 research papers in peer-reviewed journals, 40 conference papers, 12 reputed books including the one from Nova Publishers (USA) and scores of popular scientific articles. Presently he is associated with about 25 international and national journals as regional editor, technical editor, editorial board member and reviewer.

About The Book

The book “Seed Production of Selected Horticultural Crops” deals with the scientific approach to seed production of some common but important horticultural crops ranging from vegetables, spices, plantation crops, flowers and ornamentals. Information on various aspects for the production of quality seed of each of the crop including general aspects and botany, environmental and isolation requirements, detailed cultural requirements as well as harvest and post harvest management has been compiled and elucidated. The aim of this text book is to collate the traditional knowledge of horticultural seed production with that of the recent advances made in this direction throughout the globe in a comprehensive manner.
